Veneers

Dental veneers can be done with two different types of materials. It could be done with a dental material called dental composite, where it's sculpted directly on the tooth. The other type of veneer is a porcelain veneer, and that's probably what most people consider a veneer. Porcelain veneers are made out of as you know these sophisticated ceramics that are stained and glazed and baked in the oven. And they're going to be impermeable to any change in color or stain. They're much stronger than composite. Veneers can be used to close spaces in between patient's teeth. They can be used to correct minor alignment of their teeth if a patient is not satisfied with the alignment or if they don't desire to go through some sort of orthodontics. We can use veneers to hide discolored teeth from tetracycline stain, or a tooth that has previously had a root canal that is discolored and no longer matches an adjacent tooth. The patient can see results, in some cases immediately, especially if it's one or two teeth that we're working on. With our ability, with computer-aided design, we can show on the computer what their tooth is going to look like and then we can fabricate that in our milling machine and the patient can leave just knowing exactly what their smile is going to look like. Many of these patients haven't liked their smile for a long time, maybe they haven't liked just the stain of their teeth, the shape of their teeth, or spaces. And patients frequently are just ecstatic with the result in how they look, how they feel that they feel so naturally and look so naturally, how well they can chew and bite into things and they truly just leave with a brand new smile, with a new outlook on life, a little more confidence and, you know, just very pleased with the results.
