All-on-4 Dental Implants

If you have widespread tooth loss, implant-supported dentures can restore your bite. But not all patients qualify for traditional implants. You may be eligible for All-on-4® dental implants, even if your jawbone has lost too much density for traditional implants. With the All-on-4® method, Dr. Michael D. Haight in Albuquerque, NM, can give more patients their smile back – often in a single day.

Why Patients Love All-on-4

Traditional dental implants require a strong jawbone for support. However, many patients with missing teeth have lost bone density, meaning they can't qualify for implants unless they first receive preparatory procedures to build back their jawbone strength. The All-on-4 dental implant procedure allows many patients to receive implant-supported dentures even if they have low jawbone density, eliminating the need for bone grafting and sinus lifts.

Other reasons to consider the All-on-4 from Dr. Michael Haight, our Albuquerque, NM, dentist, include:

Same-Day Teeth

In one appointment, Dr. Haight can replace your missing natural teeth with temporary dentures anchored by implants. After you attend another dental appointment for your permanent dentures, your All-on-4 treatment will be complete.

Fewer Implants

Replacing a full arch using the traditional implant method requires six to eight dental implants. These dentures only need four implants to replace an arch of natural teeth. By placing the implants at strategic angles, the All-on-4 method makes the most of your remaining jawbone.

Faster Recovery

Using fewer implants and a minimally invasive technique causes less trauma to your jawbone, greatly shortening your treatment and recovery time.

Superior Restoration

Anchored by implants, your life-like dentures are more secure than traditional dentures, which can slip out of place when you chew or speak. The dental implants also stimulate the jaw, preventing future bone atrophy.

A Closer Look at All-on-4

All-on-4 dental implants sidestep the need for bone grafts and sinus lifts. The four dental implants take advantage of your existing jawbone, replacing a full arch of teeth with dentures

How Our Albuquerque Dentist Performs the All-on-4

Patients receive temporary dentures the same day their dental implants are placed at our Albuquerque dental office, so you don't have to go another day without a full smile

Our dental practice offers sedation dentistry to help you relax during treatment.

Consultation

Dr. Haight will take 3D scans of your oral structures and review your health and dental goals during a meeting at his Albuquerque dental office. If he determines that All-on-4 dental implants are the right treatment for you, our dentist will schedule a date for your surgery.

Surgery

Local anesthetic will be used to thoroughly numb your mouth before surgery; we also offer sedation dentistry to help you relax during treatment. Four small incisions are made on the dental arch. Using gentle techniques, our dentist will surgically place the implants into your jaw. Dr. Haight uses surgical guides to ensure precise placement of the implants and optimal support.

Temporary Dentures

After your dental implants are in place, our dentist will fit you with a high-quality and natural-looking temporary denture. These dentures function like natural teeth, enabling you to effectively eat and speak.

Healing

The healing period for All-on-4 implants usually takes about three to four months. Once the titanium posts fuse with the jawbone, Dr. Haight will schedule a follow-up appointment.

Second Appointment

Once you're completely healed from dental implant surgery, our dentist will replace your temporary dentures with strong, customized dentures. Dr. Haight will make any necessary adjustments so your dentures and implants are functional and comfortable.

After Your Surgery

Recovery Period

For about the first week after All-on-4 implant surgery, patients should stick to a soft food diet. Smoothies, soups, and yogurt are ideal foods that won't irritate the sites where the implants were placed. As the gums heal, patients can reintroduce solid foods into their diet.

Caring for Your New Smile

Taking care of your denture is similar to caring for your natural teeth. Patients should brush their prosthetic and floss under the restoration after meals. Specialized tools like proxy brushes, waterpiks, and floss threaders can help keep the areas between the denture and implants clean.

Paying for All-on-4 Treatment

Insurance doesn't typically cover the cost of dental implants, but it may cover your restoration. For those interested in this innovative surgery but who need help covering costs, Parkway Dental accepts Compassionate® Finance. This option enables patients to receive treatment and pay for care in monthly installments.

Having functional teeth that stabilize your oral health can greatly increase your quality of life. The benefits of All-on-4 can last a lifetime if you attend dental checkups and practice good oral hygiene.
